The Hobbit 3 - Your Reaction?

Yes! Oh yes, fans, it's true. Using The Hobbit novel, as well as material from the appendices (history in between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, I believe), Peter Jackson and crew shall be making not two, but three Hobbit films.

I, for one, am all for it. At first, I thought this was a rather bad move, since it seemed like a ploy to make more money. Upon thinking it over again, however, I am very eager to see how they bring un-novelized history from Middle-Earth to life.

So. Whaddya think? Think it should have been just one movie? Two? How do you feel about the material they will be potentially using?

Speak up in the comments! And give the article above a quick look-see, too, there's a bit more information to be gleaned there.

I'm excited about it! Somebody would eventually film all that material, and I trust PJ more than anyone else. (Also, there can never be too many movies of high quality and good stories.)

After LOTR, I think Peter Jackson can make 3 films of Hobbit worth watching. I'm excited to see how they turn out, but I mean how bad could they be? My only suspicious reaction to the plans for the Hobbit is this new female character Tauriel (however you spell her name), but I think in the end it'll all come out all right. :)

Like you, at first I went, "WHAT? They're making me wait even LONGER for it all?" but then I realized that to make it into 3 movies...either they're gonna be adding a whole TON of stuff, or they will be extremely detailed and follow it by the book. Which I love.
So I'm for it. Just as long as it's good(which it will be. ;) )

"The Desolation of Smauge"??

Couldn't they have though of something a little catchier than that? Sounds like a video game.

Other than that, I'm completely for it. I believe it has been said that the third film will be covering some of what Tolkien's lengthy appendixes have chattered about...and that I haven't read.

Which means...

I personally am SUPER excited that he changed it to three films. The more film the better! Can't wait for the Hobbit (An Unexpected Journey) to come out December. AAHHH!

*shrug* I was angry at first, but only because of rumours that The Silmarillion was being integrated, which has nothing to do with The Hobbit.

But I don't care anymore. I WANTS HOBBITSES PRECIOUS!!!

I am super excited to see what he comes up with because I trust he will try to be true to the book. If he isn't, I will be very disappointed. Regardless, I am going to have a hard time waiting between the film releases.

Sounds cool. I was a bit bummed at how long I'll have to wait for the whole thing to out, BUT, I think with a longer series, they are going to be MUCH more in-depth and awesome. I can't wait to see some Middle Earth history and stuffs along with it. I think it's going to be brilliant.

And I. Love. The title of the second movie. That is TOO COOL. I love how they bring stuff like that straight out of the book. :-)

Can't wait. Cannot. Wait.

If it was anyone other than Peter Jackson directing it I would say that it was a recipe for failure. But as it is... I have high hopes. :)

Hobbit movies!

Benedict Cumberbach as Smaug!

Martin Freeman as Bilbo!

I see no downside here. :)

The more the better! And Peter Jackson is in charge. My only fear, longer spider scenes. I think I will end up fainting. Also...TINTIN TWO IS PUT ON HOLD!!!! Tragic and horrible. We need to clone Peter Jackson!

WHAT? Tintin 2 on HOLD???? *cries*

@Miss Jack Lewis Baillot: But the spider scenes are the best part. ;)
