January 2012 Beautiful People

Yay! Beautiful People again!

Also, I feel so special (hahah) because I got mentioned in the BP host's posts this month. But anyway. Don't get a big head now, Abby.....

Not surprisingly, Dantere is our man (boy??) for this month's round o' questions! Fire away!

1. If your character’s house burned down, and they were left with nothing but the clothes on their back, what would they do? Where would they go?
Well, since you asked..... back in the day, his house did burn down and was left with nowt but the clothes on his back. BUT..... he was what, two??
(Actually, I think due to plot changes I am bumping that up to six. Which makes Keziren four at the time of the...... wait, okay, make it eight?? *thinks* Okay, he was eight years old, and Keziren was six. Ta da.)

*Watch me change my mind. Treasure this, y'all. A novel is taking form before your very eyes!!*

Oh, but back to the question: he would go north. With his little sister in tow and maybe something to eat, he would beg, borrow, or steal money, then make his way north, back to home, as fast as he could. But hopefully someone would intercept him before he got all the way there......

2. Are they happy with where they are in life, or would they like to move on?
He's definitely NOT happy.... I mean, he tries to make himself comfortable and not be too much like a fish out of water, but he lives in a hot, dusty, southern land and he wishes he were home, he wishes home wasn't so...... well...... a mess. He wishes he wasn't only eleven years old. He wishes he could fix all the problems. Including his own. Yeah.

3. Are they well-paid?
He's allowed to live, and is fed and clothed. Not bad, right?

4. Can they read?
His formal education was halted when Trenbourn fell under attack, but! he's been trying to continue teaching himself, and a friend of his teaches him in their spare time. So yep, he can read but he's not the best... certainly not the worst either though.

5. What languages do they speak?
In the words of Star Wars: Basic. I mean.... "English." He learns a little bit of a Cialanth fairy dialect and can also speak a few words in the immortal tongue, but he tries to avoid that. It starts to have side effects after  awhile.

6. What is their biggest mistake?
I actually don't think he's done it yet. I'll alert you when it happens, though. xD

7. What did they play with most as a child?
Not much. He liked reading and painting as a kid. Maybe he had some sort of random trinket..... that sounds like him, something as obscure as a rubber band that says BROCCOLI on the side was his favorite toy, except that neither of those things exist in his world......

8. What are their thoughts on politics?
Get the king on the throne, hand me a sword, and let me save the world already before I change my mind. :P

He's actually not that feisty, but it sounded good.

9. What is their expected life time?
He actually was told that he would die early, and of course it's true.... but what good is a death prediction without a twist? :P

10. If they were falsely accused of murder, what would they do? How would they react?
He would continue to protest his innocence, but if avoiding the consequences would put other people in jeopardy, then he would just take it even if he was innocent. He prefers not to run from stuff (if it's a people issue then that's true. However, when dealing with the immortal world.... ah, never mind.).

Anyway, he would just take it, say his deal, and then depend on justice and... other factors not revealed here due to complicated explaining.... to get him out of the situation. He'd probably get angry, but he has serious faith in the truth coming to light eventually, no need to fuss on his part. If it's not true, why get worked up?

Though, he would get distressed if the murdered person was someone dear to him.... he wouldn't be as angry as he would be seriously distressed and disturbed that he's being seen as the killer of someone he loves.

.... I hope some of that made sense o_O

Thank you so much Georgie and Sky for some AWESOME questions this month!

And next month, readers, I think I'll be presenting BP as an interview!! Hip hip hooray, right? :D

Anyway, I'll try to get a good post about Dantere's Story out asap.... maybe I'll do a series, starting with it's origin point from when I was like, nine......

As a reply to the people who commented on the "Hey Y'all" post.

There were too many people I had to reply to. So here's a post ;)

@Lauren
Thank you! I love you and your blog too, truly <3

@Marian
I'm really not sure whether I prefer normal teen angst or writer's angst.... I have a feeling I may grow out of one but not the other! o_O

@Charley
Thank you so much :D And yes, I hope you schedule clears up soon.

@Mom
I'll get to it doncha worry ;)

@Hannah
Okay! I'll keep all that in mind! I was actually thinking about doing a post on writing fantasy soon......

@Amaranthine
Ha, that's two requests for ballet posts now! :P And okay, yes, thank you for the list! So helpful :)

Also, you wanna email me the pictures of us from when we met?? I don't have any :|

@Farjag
That's a very, very good idea. Seriously, those are GREAT questions! I just hope when I blog that sort of stuff, that it won't turn out to be like, babble. xD

@Georgie
Was the manga thing for my benefit then? ;) It made my day, anyway.
And okay, I'll be cracking down on those writing posts!

@Chris
They totally snubbed Tintin, Hugo will take home half, and the other half will go to people who deserved it probably. I'll do a rant/post soon hopefully :D

@Annika
Another list! Yay. And you know what? Writing obsession is totally welcome here :D

@Helen (TMD)
I think you really just want me to write about you...........

@Jenna
Thanks ;)

OK well there you are everybody! :) Now, to re-blog from good ol' Charley R.......

Hey Y'all

I know it's a blogger rule to not blog about not blogging. But here I am, and I'm gonna say it:

I really don't have much to blog about.

I miss blogging though, like real blogging, and I wanted to ask again: What do YOU guys want to see around here? As specifically as you can. That would be so great :)

Anyway, school is good, I'm still singing Japanese songs at the top of my lungs, I plan on reading Ender's Game for a fourth time soon, Blue Ink is well on it's way to being a great lighthearted fairytale romp (thanks for the idea Corey!), and Dantere's Story.... okay, I suppose that's not all confetti in that department, but you'll hear good news soon, hopefully.

I get serious cases of writer's angst. A LOT. I'l trying to work past this one, but all I want to do is sit around and read manga instead.

Oy.

Anyway, how's life for you all? Don't forget to tell me what you want to see around here.... and if all it is you look forward to are the posts with silly pictures, that matters too, so speak up! :) Love you all.

Some Good-Looking Movies and a REALLY random thought....

This movie looks SO GOOD.

I've been begging mom to go see it with me.

"See, mom? I have money......." "Hey mom, doesn't this look fantastic?"

etc.

*****

And yes, I gotta go see this before it leaves theaters.

The fate of the world is in the balance.

Just kidding.

I also requested Enchanted and Bridge to Terabithia from the library.

I'll do a double-feature review on them next week sometime :)

And as for the random thought........

***

CAN I PLEASE HAVE THIS GUY'S HAIR?????

Please?

Plus his eyes are cool.

Anyway, moving on.....

How is life for the rest of you??

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

There's a lot I would post about....

But I want to try and be in bed before midnight tonight.

I have high aspirations.

Anyway, the one funny writing tidbit I have is.....

I think I have more endurance than I did when I first started writing.

Because, if you've been following Dantere's Story at all, you may have heard some inkling or another of The Sight, which is a gift that Dantere has. Essentially, it's being able to see the "spirit world." That's not how I would phrase it normally, but my phrasage takes longer....

Anyway, while I was inspired by the real spiritual realm and wanted a lot of the "Other Realm" to echo truths of spiritual warfare, etc...

But then I got tangled up because what it started to look like was an exact replica of real life, spiritual warfare, etc....

I wasn't planning on it looking exact. Just a few similar things.
But 1) if it looked too much like "religion" then it would be forever looked at as a parallel or whatever of the Christian walk, I don't want responsibility like THAT on my hands with a silly fantasy novel.....
and
2) I am not a spiritual warfare expert. Also, I don't want to follow in the footsteps of every other Christian author and have a redemption parallel. etc..... basically Christianity in a fantasy world, etc.....

There.

I'm big on etc. today...?

Anyway, so the past few days have found me not continuing the novel, but working out, half of the time on paper and the other half churning over stuff in my head, the details and "rules" of the Other Realm.

It's been a total drain on brainpower, and is certainly not half as fun as actually writing would be. I have to tell myself repeatedly, that if I work on it and break it up enough, it will, in fact, make sense someday.

'Cause if a writer doesn't really know what they're writing about, it shows.

So I've been trying to figure out what I'm writing.

Highly interesting, I say.

What challenges have you guys been working through lately??

It's also funny because I've begun drawing inspiration from an ancient Nintendo video game that I've been playing for probably five years. Maybe more. Still haven't finished it. (That's not because I'm bad at it: it's a really long game..... you have to walk around and fight stuff and walk around and explore and walk and walk and walk.......... and walk...)

But I digress.

Anyway, the thing that tickled me was that maybe a year or two ago, I would have gotten so jumbled because my story wasn't working that I would just stop. Or ditch it and go in a whole different direction, then get tangled up in a whole new plothole.

Not now. I'm more willing to take the time, to work it through and be ruthless until it makes sense.

Happy me.

xD

So that's my writer's drama for this week.

******

Also, I'm thinking of posting an excerpt, but that won't happen until I write a little bit  more.....

But I could always do a character interview!

I think you guys should choose the interviewees, so in a few days or so, I'll do a big post on the more prominent characters, with a quote from each of them and a little bio. Whoever sounds the most interesting gets the interview. :)

Of course, there is no way I'm going to really guarantee that that will happen in the extreme near future.... just plans.....

What has been swamping your time lately?? o_O

******

In other news, I'm re-reading Percy Jackson. I love those books.

And for some reason that I still don't understand, reading Ender's Game makes me.... happy. It's strange. (And no, it has nothing to do with Asa Butterfield playing Ender in the movie!!!! I swear.)

*******

Oh, and this was my FB status the other day:

Again.... high aspirations. :P

I am sincerely sorry for such a sporadic post. You may be rewarded for reading the whole thing in the near future, in the form of a solid book or movie review, an awesome video, or an excerpt.

Unfortunately, the author has to find her sanity first. And her story.

Thank you for your patience.

Please make yourself at home in the comments. Make some friends, tell some jokes, share about life... just be awesome. :)

A Slew of Unrelated Random Thoughts.

.... I love Beav it to Leave it. Er.... Leaver to Beav it..... I mean Leave It To Beaver. It rocks my socks. Who needs any other TV?

.... I hate second-guessing myself. This is exactly why my stories never get.... finished....... *bangs head on table*

..... someone help me......

.....I seriously dig the chapter titles of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I mean, really- "Three Old Ladies Knit The Socks Of Death."

.....Thompson and Thomson... xD

.....Tintin doesn't like cupcakes?!??!?!?!?!?!???!?!?!!? He has issues.

.....I like ellipses..... o_O

.....my hips hurt again. I don't think ballet is good for my health. Turn out I cannot.

.....can I please be 18 already? I mean, don't think I'm ungrateful for making it 15 years, but...... that script contest won't accept submissions from people under 18...... dang......

.... picture picture picture! OY!

heeheheeheheheheeeeeee.....

.....I would love to be a foley artist. I also noticed that boiling macaroni would make a great layer for either: thunder in the distance; rumbling of feet/ground in general; or battle in the distance.... I want to try it out....... o_O

..... thank you, Amaranthine, for making my day:

You want me in your Artemis Fowl movie.

That, my friend, is way epic. :P

Wassup with the rest of you??

Friday, January 13, 2012

Whoa, you guys, look.......

It's Artemis Fowl in the flesh!

Ask Amaranthine. She showed me this picture herself. ^^

I also think this one is a good "Artemis" looking one.......

Seriously, someone needs to get on the ball, make the movie and hire Asa to play Artemis before he gets too old........

Yes, I am a writer.

The first third of my day was fantastic, as you noticed from the last post.

The last third.... not over yet, so I'm still making up my mind.

But the second third totally stunk.

My stomach hurt, my hips were in some serious pain and I had a headache.

And actually, apparently my hips were what caused the worst part of the day.

I totally threw up. Like, twice.

It was awful. Since my stomach was hurting and my hips too, anyway, after I got sick I just lay in bed with a hot water bottle and an electric blankie until I had to get ready for ballet. (I almost didn't go...)

Anyway...... I ran to bathroom because I was getting that terrible saliva thing right before you get sick to your stomach. (Am I grossing anyone out??)

So... and I'm risking sicking out people here.... I spit all the saliva into the sink, lifted up the toilet lid....

And.....

Want to know what my one thought was right before I threw up??

Hey, at least now I can write about Dantere a little better. He throws up all the time.

Even in the midst of my misery, I'm still tucking it all away for my writing.

Geez.

The Promised Epic Post :)

So.

Mom and I went over to the local shopping center after my dentist appointment.

We went to FedEx Kinkos.... into which I brought an unsuspecting piece of paper.

And handed it to the guy with the machine.

Well, my goodness, what is that?

That's the original, 81/2 by 11 map on the right.

Sis and I pinned it up on my wall just now.

Yep.

My map of Dantere's world.

It's a land called Verria.

In the world of Ilsweth.

And it's on my wall above my bed.

And it's HUGE!!!

Yeah.

It's insanely awesome.

I had been sticking some of my writing stuff up on the wall anyway, recently.

You can see chunks of notes and that sketch of my characters (it's a photocopy) underneath the map.

I also bough neon index cards and sharpies at Staples while we were out so I can outline my various plots (for Dantere AND probably other things like scripts) and have them out somewhere that I can see them all the time.

It is very epic.

My writing is taking over my room.

I like it that way :)

^ I'm wondering whether I should put more writing-related drawings and stuff up on that wall or stick one or two of my Lord of the Rings posters up instead. (My posters are pretty huge, and epic...)

Anyway.

If I put the posters up I'll blog it :D

Oh, and since I was in my room snapping pictures, here's one of my prized possession:

Eh heh heh.

I was deliriously mumbling "The Giant's Drink.... Giant's Drink...... Graff...... zero gravity..." last night.

Oh well.

That's the price of reading right before bed when bedtime is like, 3am. (I didn't say that, by the way.)

Gimme a break though, I was reorganizing my room to make space for the new presents :P

So......

What's up with all of you?? (And who doesn't think a giftcard to Kinkos/FedEx Office isn't a great idea now??)

:D

Recap of my Birthday =)

I had a seriously epic birthday.

What with the lovely (read: happy-dance-inducing) gifts, a good ballet class, and dinner afterward with my family (paper telephone in a restaurant is fun), I find myself sighing in contentment right now :)

(Oh by the way, for the teary/sentimental....? side of today's events, check out this post at my mom's blog.)

Also, another birthday present was my very own FB account. Heh heh. [So if you've been around long enough to find a copyright notice with my last name around here, then you should go friend me :D]

But I'm doing my best not to let it keep me from my blogging! *epic stance*

Anyway.....

Oh, also, my Ender's Game book came in the mail this afternoon. It was supposed to be tomorrow. But I got it today <3

It is my prized possession :P

I really didn't have a point to this post.

But thank you all, my sweet followers, for the lovely birthday wishes and epic comments. Y'all made my day <3

Now.

I go to think about maybe sleeping. I'll probably write some more..... Dantere is just so intriguing! :D

Oh and tomorrow, if I can get pictures, I'm going to blog something very, very epic....... o_O

Stay tuned! And thank you for making my birthday so awesome :)

*smile*

Face to Face With.... My Characters!

Yo, y'all!!

I finally, finally, drew my characters.

Well, I've been able to draw Dantere for awhile, but....

I got the four main characters down. On paper. And I'm happy with how they look (actually, Keziren's eyes are not the right shape and Nerephides doesn't look the greatest, but they trigger the images of them in my head so I'm not complaining.).

(Also, this is in no way saying I am an artist of any kind. I just swing my pencil around like a madman and sometimes I get something I'm happy with.)

Anyway. Wanna meet them??

Here:

(L to R: Dantere [MC], Keziren [MC's sis], Nerephides [sidekick #1], and Velyaran [awesome sidekick #2])

I think, out of the bunch, 'Tere and Vel came out the best. Phi (Nerephides) is my least favorite, but hey, this was the first ever successful drawing of him (OO)

Keziren was the most difficult, but I think she turned out alright. I have a sketch of an older version of her so at least I have something a little more accurate to base younger drawings off of.

Nerephides and Velyaran were fun. Vel is pretty elf-like, but I didn't want the clean, Legolas-esque deal. His hair is in some sort of braid thing that is from his culture, but the hair in the front is loose and messy :)

Nerephides' hair is straight-up black, and I must say, he doesn't cut it much xD I wish I could have given his face the sharp, meditative (but deadly!) look I was going for, but hey, it was my first try.

Profile is also not easy for me. Especially the chins. :/

And last but not least, the one who turned out the best, and is one of my favorite characters ever...
Dantere :)

I've been practicing drawing him for a few months now. The first time I got his face down right was actually a pure accident, but since then I can nail every single one of his features right off of memory, which is fantastic, particularly because I've never been able to do that before with a character (and not since, either...)

Anyway, considering the many times I've drawn him, this is probably one of the best versions, too.

Me is very happy right now :D

Anyway, to conclude this random post, here are some questions for you, dear readers:

1) How old does Dantere look to you? I know how old he's supposed to be, but.... :P

2) Have you had any writerly breakthroughs or rejoicing-worthy events lately??

and

3) What would you want more, a character interview or excerpts? Or BOTH??

(I've actually written a lot. Considering I restarted just the other day to write Dantere's Story in 1st person, I've written.... ooh.... 10 pages, front and back, in my notebook, which averages to about 2000 words in about three or four days (and handwritten in the midst of school and ballet, etc... that is no easy task!).)

Anyway. Comment away! :D :D :D

What a fail. (En Route To Mississippi) [And Guest Post Winner!]

I'm a whole year late *headdesk*

Anyway, I finished it a day overdue, but at least I finished it.

:/

The script is terrible, though. It's waaaaay underdeveloped, and it either needs a little bit more gore than a bee sting or there should be no gore. I really sort of sent it twenty different directions and ended up lost.

Oh well.

It still sort of freaked me out.

By the way, the version I finished was one based off the ideas of Christopher and Corey P., aka The Ink Slinger, which were, respectively, about a girl named Mississippi, and the premise that Mississippi- the name, the place, everything- has disappeared, ceased to exist.

It turned out into some sort of strange paranormal/thriller/random.

Which, again, is strange because I've never watched anything like that. I have read one book, but that barely counts...

Anyway, here it is, in all it's just-finished, un-read, un-edited, pathetic glory.

(If you can think of a way to improve it then please speak up. That would be amazing.)

Just be aware that this is probably the lamest, poorest quality thing I've ever written. o_O

Check it out after the JUMP! :S
